In one paragraph
Smart Factory is monitoring software for CNC machines. A free connector reads the machine control directly, so the status of every machine, the running time, the downtime, the number of pieces and the OEE appear in real time on a phone, tablet, desktop and shop floor TV. Machines of different brands and ages end up in one overview, without operators keeping lists by hand. The company is Smart Factory B.V. in Haaksbergen, the Netherlands; the software is sold in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, in Dutch, German and English.

What the software does
- Shows the live status of every machine: active, workpiece change, setup, not productive.
- Records running time, downtime, setup time and workpiece change time per machine, per job and per shift.
- Counts the pieces made and compares cycle times with the calculation.
- Calculates OEE and shows where the loss is: availability, performance or quality.
- Shows the machine park on a smart TV in the workshop through the free Wallboard app.
- Gives the operator a panel at the machine to report jobs, reasons for downtime and rejects.
- Reads NC programs from the machine, keeps versions and shows the difference between two versions.
- Adds production information, drawings, photos and documents to a part or a job.
- Sends a weekly performance report by email and configurable alerts.
Machine controls
The Smart Factory Connector connects automatically with a Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc, Haas or Mazak control. Older machines and machines without a data interface are connected through a signal of the machine itself, so a mixed machine park ends up in one overview. Which data a machine delivers depends on the control and on the options installed on it; the connector reads what the control makes available and does not change anything in the machine program.

Integrations
Smart Factory exchanges data with ERP and quotation software, so a job only has to be entered once. Partners and connected systems include Proalpha MKG, Imnoo, the Fraunhofer Innovation Platform at the University of Twente and Produmize. The ULTIMATE plan contains the ERP integration; PREMIUM and ULTIMATE give API access for your own integration.
Questions and answers
Does it work with machines of different brands and ages?
Yes. That is the normal situation in a machine shop. New controls deliver detailed data, older machines deliver at least the status, and both appear in the same overview.
Does the machine have to be modified?
No. The connector reads the control and does not write to it. For machines without a data interface a signal of the machine is used.
How long does it take to see the first machine?
Sign-up and connector installation are done the same day. Once the connector reaches a control, the machine appears in the app right away.
What does it cost for ten machines?
Ten machines on ADVANCED cost 290 euro per month, on PREMIUM 590 euro per month. Users and storage are unlimited, so the number of employees does not change the price.
Is there a limit on users?
No. Every plan has unlimited users and unlimited storage.
Is Smart Factory an MES?
It covers the part of an MES that a machine shop feels first: machine data, job registration at the machine, OEE and the link with ERP. It is installed in days, not in a project of months.
